Set in the picturesque village of Hardington in Somerset, The Royal Oak (known as Sonny’s locally) is the former farm house of the pub’s name sake, Sonny White.

All their puddings are homemade and they stock a whole host of Purbeck flavours. Included in their menu is the Chocolate Brownie (picture featured) made with real Belgian chocolate, served warm with dark chocolate sauce and paired with the Purbeck Serious White Chocolate Ice Cream – it’s a great combo!

Choosing the right flavour of ice cream with the pudding, Sara added “We did have it paired with the serious chocolate ice cream but thought it might be too ‘chocolatey’ – the white chocolate provides a lighter flavour and a better balance.”

“Another of our puds that is hugely popular is our Sticky Toffee Pudding; we serve that with the insanely good Salted Caramel Ice Cream – wow!!!!!  It’s almost like that ice cream was literally made to be served with sticky toffee pudding.”

The Royal Oak is situated on a dairy farm, which is still operated today by the White family and is more than just a pub, it’s the heart of the community. It is a proper country pub offering a great selection of real ales, lagers and ciders, as well as high quality and great value home made food made using local and seasonal produce.
